How often should we clean a dryer vent?
Many manufacturers suggest annual attention, but real schedules depend on household laundry volume, pet hair, and duct length. Busy Erie families with long basement runs often benefit from yearly service; lighter use or short wall vents may stretch further. We’d rather help you decide based on symptoms than sell a calendar alone.
Is emptying the lint trap enough?
No. The trap catches some lint, not the debris that settles along elbows and horizontal runs. Those hidden sections are where heat and restriction build up.
What are signs of a clogged dryer vent?

Can we clean it ourselves?
Homeowners can vacuum the immediate transition area and keep the outdoor flap clear of snow or nests. Full-length brush cleaning — especially roof or attic paths — often needs tools and access that DIY kits don’t safely cover. If you’re unsure, ask us; we’ll say when DIY is enough.
Do you clean gas and electric dryers?
Yes — the vent path matters for both. Gas dryers also exhaust combustion byproducts, so clear outdoor termination is especially important. We don’t service gas lines or burners; that’s a separate licensed trade.
Will cleaning fix every slow dryer?
Not always. Failed heating elements, bad thermistors, or overloaded machines mimic vent problems. If airflow looks healthy after cleaning and cycles stay long, we’ll tell you it may be an appliance issue.
